Signing up on Yubo is relatively straightforward. You can download the app on Google Play Store or the App Store. Once the app is installed on your phone, you can register—type in your name, birthday, and gender. Then, you must upload a profile picture. You can’t skip this step. Facial recognition and age-estimation technology are deployed to verify your age.

After your photo has passed, you can now type in your preferred username and nominated password. Next, the app will be asking for your phone number to send the verification code needed to complete the registration process.

Age Verification Process with Yoti

Yubo tied up with Yoti, a London-based digital identity provider to institute a wide age verification process on their live-streaming platform. This new age verification process helps in protecting Yubo's members by ensuring the separation of minors and adults in the app. It works by asking the member to take a real-time photo of themselves within the Yubo app and an age estimation algorithm will be analyzed. Yoti's technology has a 98.9% accuracy working fairly across all ages, genders, and skin tones.

Yubo’s core functionality is live streaming. You can meet new people, add them as friends, and live stream videos with them. You can choose to live stream, create a show, express your talent, or talk to your viewers. If you are more on the lowkey side, you can be a viewer and interact with your friends as you leave comments on their streams. 

Yubo aims to help make streamers and viewers become friends. You can invite people that interest you to watch your stream. There is also a chat feature you can use to message new people and keep in touch with your old friends. Whatever your interests are, may it be in art, food, sports, or other outlets, you can join thousands of communities that share your passion and start building friendships along the way. 

To meet more like-minded individuals, you can swipe through profiles. You can set the age range, gender, and location of the profiles recommended to you. This makes the recommendations more specific. If you want to meet people near your area or explore communities on the other side of the world, adjust your search filters easily. You can also check tags to see if you have similar interests. If they do, you can quickly go live and start a conversation.

Profiles on Yubo are image-oriented. When you swipe through profiles, you will only be seeing their photos. If you want to get to know them even more profoundly, check out the tags. The tags describe what they like. You might find that the member you think you might get along with likes the same TV shows that you do, plays the same video games, and listens to cool music.

We highly recommend undergoing profile verification. Once you are verified, a yellow badge gets displayed on your profile. A verified profile helps you come across as credible and trustworthy. Verified profiles are twice as likely to get more attention than unverified ones. To get verified, you must upload any of these documents: national identity card, school card, passport, or driver’s license.

If you want your profile to be more personalised, you can write a brief biography that tells your story, who you are, what you are looking for, and what you like. A detailed profile might come to your advantage since not many members take the time to write biographies or even use tags in their profiles. Get more attention and receive invites to streams.

The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of your billing period. You can manage subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal by going to Account Settings after purchase. Also, take note that the current subscription cannot be cancelled during an active subscription period.

Is it worth getting the premium? Honestly, it is not. You can meet new people, interact, and have fun even without paying for the exclusive features. You can swipe through profiles, watch unlimited live streams, and chat with people without paying a single cent. There is no need to upgrade. Although these paid features seem fun, it is not worth the money since there are enough free features left. You won’t be missing anything if you don’t shell out the money.
